ELITISTA IS THE PROUD ORGANIZER OF 12th October - THE SUGAR FREE DAY

The hunt for hidden sugar

Being sugar free for a whole day sounds easy, but it's actually easier said than done. There's sugar in almost everything we buy nowadays, and you need to be a bit of a detective (or biochemist) to be able to understand what your food actually contains.

On the 12th October, we want you to join us on a sugar hunt.
With the help of the mobile app SockerChecken, you can easily see how much hidden sugar our most common foods contain. You will discover what a challenge it is to be sugar free for an entire day.

In the evening of the 12th October, between 18-22pm, we have gathered some world experts on sugar as guest speakers. What's more is that this year we have brought with us some speakers from England and also the USA.

The event will take place digitally (but all Swedish lecturers will be together in a studio).

Do not miss this years most important event. Let's raise awareness of sugar and the dangers of processed food!

Any surplus earnt from this event will be donated to Kostfonden (read more below).

When you register, you will have access to interviews and presentations by both lecturers and partners on an ongoing basis.

Time: 12th October 18.00 - 22.00 via Zoom.
Price: 499 Swedish Krona inc VAT.

The lecture will be recorded and everyone who registers will recieve a link afterwards.

Most people probably know that there is sugar in cake, but how much added sugar is in yoghurt, cream, chicken or cereals?

On the 12th October, you will have the opportunity to find out with the help of SockerChecken.

Change begins when someone says NO!

Regardless of whether it is a matter of changing society's view of racism,  sexual orientation or gender equality, it starts with someone daring enough to say NO.

On the 12th October, it's your turn to say NO.
No to sugar and ultra-processed foods that will not help you build a healthier body.

On the 12th October, we use our consumer power and show that we want to eat food without additives. What we buy controls whats sold on the shelves.

Are you also prepared to say NO on October the 12th?

You're no longer alone!

20 years ago, it was very controversial to say that sugar was dangerous. You were considered a sugar cop, a boring person who could not treat yourself to anything or enjoy life.

Now the tides are turning. More and more people are learning about the harmful effects of sugar and processed foods on our health.

When you try to reduce your sugar intake, you are no longer alone. Together we will make Sweden healthier!

Kostfonden

Kostfonden collects resources for scientific studies that examine the effects of diet on health and what possible side effects a dietary change can give.

As dietary research lacks commercial interest, the studies conducted today are generally too small and too short-term to be able to change health care.

In order to drive development forward, Kostfonden, through its scientific advice, identifies important knowledge gaps. Then it collects money through, for example, crowdfunding to be able to provide important areas with better scientific groundwork.

She has a PhD in biochemistry and since 2009 has evaluated the advice on a low-fat diet.

The work has convinced her that dietary treatments can play a much bigger role in health care than they currently do. she has co-founded Kostfonden because high quality research is crucial to changing health care.
The story behind the 12th october

The Story Behind the 12th October

Three years ago, we made the 12th October our day.
By our day we mean that we created a very special day for everyone who is struggling to quit consuming sugar and processed foods.

During an unforgettable day at Hotel Birger Jarl in Stockholm, we looked at sugar addiction from every angle and discussed how we can help each other to raise awareness and educate others.

A big thanks to Eva Gustafsson, who made sure that the day was officially registered as "The Sugar-Free Day" in the calendar. Sweden is the only country in the world that has a sugar free day!

Whether you are a sugar addict, a relative of a sugar addict, a heavy consumer of sugar and processed foods, or just generally interested in learning more about how sugar and processed foods affect our health, you are welcome to participate. Together we can make a difference!

Warm welcome Ewa, Babben och Bitten.
